Sources of Conflict
The most common causes of conflict among students at the Middle School are: (1) rumor and gossip; and (2) taking another student's things (property).
What can you/we do?
- Discuss opinions. Why differ?
- Seek middle (common) ground.
- Be flexible. Negotiate (make a deal).
- Enough ideas? Make a list.
- Use cool-down time-out.
- Be honest.
Approaches
- Explain ideas.
- Talk over. Listen.
- Combine ideas.
- Take turns.
- Paper-rock-scissors or spinner.
- Vote.
- Use a mediator (neutral party).
